Your tire is typically repairable when all of the following are true:

● The puncture is in the tread area only, not the shoulder or sidewall.

● The injury is no larger than 1/4 inch, about 6 mm.

● The tire is removed for internal inspection and found to have no hidden damage. 

● Repairs do not overlap, and the injury angle is reasonable for a sound repair.

When We Recommend Replacement

Some damage should not be repaired for the sake of safety and durability. We recommend replacement if you have:

● Sidewall or shoulder punctures, large gashes, or bulges.

● A puncture larger than 1/4 inch.

● Internal damage from being driven flat or severely underinflated, which is common on run-flat tires that were driven without air.

● A high-speed tire that has been repaired, but the manufacturer no longer honors the speed rating after the repair.

Some run-flat tires can be repaired if the puncture meets the tread area criteria and the tire was not driven for an extended period at low or zero pressure. Many brands advise replacement if the tire was driven while underinflated because internal damage may not be visible. We will follow the tire maker’s policy after a full inspection.

● Hissing, an embedded screw or nail, or a soft tire.
